Day 2: Kilimanjaro Safari

The time had finally arrived for us to ride what is deemed one of the most interesting rides in the park.  It is a open truck ride through the African plains where you really feel like you are on a guided safari!  The animals are RIGHT.UP.IN.YOUR.FACE!  We had to stop several times for giraffes and rhinos crossing the road!  Mr. Independent did not want to sit on anyone’s lap like a “baby” so I’m not sure he got to see as much (except for the few times we grabbed him so he could see)!
Almost our turn!

Mr. Independent was required to ride in the middle if not on a lap.

Trying to get off my lap and missing the hippos in the process!

Ooh!

This giraffe ended up hanging out in the road for awhile, but he was fun to watch!

Trying to get Owen up high enough to see!

Driving through a river which O thought was AWESOME!

Had to wait for these white rhinos to cross!

We went over an “old bridge” that almost “fell” as we were crossing!  It was actually pretty fun!

Here is a video from the safari!
When the ride ended (O said it was too long), it was time to head to our character lunch at the Tusker House!

Day 2: Animal Kingdom

We all woke up feeling SO much better.  Cough and fever were almost gone, so we knew it’d be a fun day!  We headed to the Animal Kingdom.

Dad ran to get FastPasses for The Kilimanjaro Safari ride, so Owen and I had some pictures taken together in front of the Tree of Life!

Then we spent 15 minutes looking at the fans that were pretty much EVERYWHERE; there was no escaping or avoiding them at this park!  Once we found Dad, we headed down to get a better look at the tree.  It is built from an old oil rig and has over 300 animals carved into it!

Then it was onto Harambe Africa!  Everywhere you walked in the park there were animals and beautiful views!  We saw porcupines right around the corner from here.

We made it to the entrance!

When the concert ended, we headed down to the safari ride… stay tuned!

Day 1: Nighttime Fun

We headed back to the Magic Kingdom to check out some other “lands” and grab dinner.

We made our way to Frontierland

And Pirates of the Caribbean (which may have been a little much for a two year old- he had a pirate nightmare that night I think- oops!)

After dinner the sun was setting, and the castle was lighting up!

We had hoped to stay for the Electric Parade, but Owen just wasn’t in a parade mood.

See his ears covered Smile

So we headed back to the hotel, to explore the Cars section.  It was really cute at night!

And of course we had to get with Sally

IMG_1046

O really wanted to pump gas, but alas no nozzles.

IMG_1050

Truth be told, O really only wanted to go see this air conditioner fan and asked to go see it the whole time we were in the Cars section.  We had to walk past this fan to go anywhere at the resort, and he couldn’t have been happier!

Off for a good nights sleep- tomorrow is Animal Kingdom and our fun character lunch at The Tusker House!
