Zoo with Nona and Papa

On Monday, the weather finally cleared up, and we decided to go to the zoo.  Nona and Papa hadn’t gone with Owen since he was TWO MONTHS OLD!  We didn’t get a whole lot of pictures because we were SO busy checking everything out!

First we went to Sting Ray Bay and Papa got to feed the sting rays, unfortunately I couldn’t get a picture since my hands were wet from feeding them too!  After StingRay Bay we watched the penguins eat breakfast.

Climbed in the canoe… [Owen LOVES to pretend our couch is a boat and our ottoman is an island.  We jump to the island to avoid the sharks, then we catch and cook crabs and lobsters (Dexter’s toys) in a fire we make.  He used to turn the fire on with a button (like the fireplace) until we showed him how a real fire is lit with matches.  Now he strikes a match, haha]  SO he is very excited when he sees a boat.

Then on our way out, he played in the Nile River.  He wasn’t too happy he fell down and got all wet.

But he pushed on, so he could touch the waterfalls.

Week in Review: 4/22-4/28

Nona and Papa came to visit on Monday, and we’ve been having fun all week!
Here they are at the park one day helping Owen with the rock wall.

I snapped a few pictures when I found Owen in bed with me one morning while Ryan was in Washington DC.

Daily Tidbits from the Week:  It was a VERY funny week!
- Owen has been asking when white fan, black fan, and grey fan can come down out of the attic.  I finally caved earlier in the week and said white fan could come down when Nona and Papa arrived.  Well Owen walked out of his room on Monday after his nap, saw Nona and Papa, and with a straight-face and dead-pan delivery said, “It’s time to get down white fan.”  No hello, no smile, no hugs… just “Get white fan.”   I proceeded to get white fan as promised and he played with it for about two hours before finally acknowledging the rest of the world still existed.  So funny!
- Later that night before bed, Ryan and I were in the kitchen and overheard Owen saying to his fan, “White fan, you are the best fan in the whole world.”
- On Wednesday, Owen was playing store with his cash register, and Nona was asking him what she could buy with her money.  She asked, “Can I buy Dexter?”  and Owen replied, “No Dexter is too old to buy!”
- On Thursday, we were getting ready for Kindermusik, and Nona and Papa were going with us.  Owen didn’t want to go, and Nona said “Let’s go have fun at Kindermusik” to which Owen replied very seriously, “Kindermusik is NOT fun.”   Haha I guess we won’t be doing the summer session!
- On Saturday, Ryan and I ran out to do some shopping for the new baby.  We picked up Thai food on our way home.  When we walked into the house carrying the food, Owen ran into the room exclaiming, “I’m sooooo hungry, please give me some food.  I’m VERY hungry!!  I’m so hungry Mommy please give me some food, Please!”  Nona about DIED and repeatedly explained that Owen had eaten a ton of food and just had dinner!  Papa, Dad, and I just laughed and laughed.  God, I wish I had video!

Swimming with Dad

Nona and Papa stayed at a hotel for a few days, and we got to take advantage of the pool!  Dad got to swim this time since I wasn’t allowed in the water yet.  They had tons of fun flying through the air!

Here he is checking out the fans first, of course!

And more fan admiration…

Davies Plantation in the Rain

It was rainy, but we were all stir crazy so we headed to a local park to splash and play.  The pond was overflowing into a little stream and Owen was amazed by the “waterfalls”.  He kept exclaiming, “The water is going over the waterfalls” and then he kept telling Aunt Staci to “Go look in the grey tubes (drains)!”

Getting down to feel the stream.  “It’s so cold!”

Panda Squirting

Owen received a Panda squirter that he LOVES!   He played for hours outside squirting everything, and when it started raining we moved inside to the shower!

Root Viewer Time!

Nona and Papa had bought Owen this cool root viewer back in the winter, and now we finally had the chance to try it out while they were here.

We got the soil ready the night before

Then filled our tubes the next morning and planted radish, carrot, and onion seeds!

He was very excited about his little mini-garden!  We already have a ton of sprouts and will have to transfer some to a new container so we can see our radishes, onions, and carrots grow in the clear tubes!
