Mangia Mangia! Pizza Night

We decided to have a pizza night, and Owen and I made dough!  Very fun and surprisingly easy.  Just watch his shirt become progressively more floured!

Unfortunately, I don’t have many action shots because this activity required full-on attention!  We are definitely going to do it again when Dad is home to help!

Week in Review 1/21 to 1/27

We had so much fun this week and had a few extra pictures.
Owen and Dad had fun measuring things around the house.  This is what I originally walked in on and thought “I need to get the camera”

We measured Dexter’s foot, per Owen “2 inches”

We measured his shoe- "5 inches”

We measured his zoo talker zebra- “five inches”

And his book- “two inches”  We ended up just giving him the tape measurer because he loves using it!
We also put in a reverse osmosis system under our sink this week.  Partly because we don’t drink tap water, and partly because I was concerned about the massive amount of plasticizers we were exposing ourselves too in the plastic bottles.  Here is Owen helping Dad tighten a nut.

Daily Tidbits from the Week
- Owen has started calling bananas- babanas.
- Ryan was putting Owen to sleep, and he sings him a song where he just names everything Owen did during the day.  He said:  “Owen and Mommy went to Kroger and Walmart” and Owen interrupted him and said, “Daddy I went potty at Walmart.”  It was true, he had!
- We went to Firebirds Restaurant on Saturday after visiting the zoo.  It is kind of a higher-end chain restaurant, if you’ve never been.  Owen was eating some of our salad, and he dropped a crouton on the floor.  VERY LOUDLY he exclaimed- “Don’t worry, the mice will eat it!”

First Real Hike

2013-01-27_10-59-59_697

This is the first time we’ve taken Owen on a non-trail hike.  We have a nice little patch of woods in our neighborhood right behind our duck pond.  It has a creek and lots of trees and is just right for teaching a little one to hike.

Owen decided to bring the stroller for his new best friend…

2013-01-27_10-23-29_838

… Monkey!!!  He pushed him the whole four blocks to the pond!  After feeding the ducks, we headed back into the woods.

O wasn’t too sure of it at first, so we pretended we were just walking in a giant leaf pile and went STOMP, STOMP, STOMP!  Check out Owen’s hat- vintage 1982 Browns hat that used to be Dad’s!

We found the creek and a big fallen tree across it!  Dad checked it out since it was a good 12 foot drop… thank goodness someone had tied a rope!

2013-01-27_10-57-56_47

We even found an empty turtle shell that was REALLY cool.

2013-01-27_10-58-49_97     2013-01-27_10-59-00_300

Dad thought it would be hilarious to get pictures of us going down the steep hill.

2013-01-27_11-00-11_9

But we made it, and Owen got to see the creek up close.

He told me the creek was his favorite today!

Trains, Trains, Trains

2013-01-26_11-17-23_640

We headed to a little town south of Memphis to see a real train!  Owen had recently asked to go inside “Thomas”, so we headed down to the cute little town square.  Of course, the trains were only open during the week, grrrrr…

And of course, he had to sit on the engine!  We’re definitely going back during the week when it’s open!

Painting Fun

DSC_0979

I’ll be the first to admit that a toddler with a paint brush makes me nervous, so we don’t do it often.  This was a RAINY yucky day, so it seemed the perfect opportunity to try it out on his new easel!

Love these no-drip paint cups!

We decided to use a Valentine’s Day theme!

Here he was trying to make a heart like mine… not bad!

It ended up going really well, so we’ll definitely be trying it more often!
