I’m a little late on this one, but Owen turned three and a half at the end of May! Owen’s hit a lot of fun milestones during the last six months.
December
He started dressing himself: underwear, shirts, and pants. He was also able to fully work any electronic device we have even though he gets less than a hour of “screen time” a day.
January
He started putting on his own socks and shoes. He loves trying to figure out how things are put together, and loves all things mechanical especially fans, lights, and anything that runs on electricity. He has started making “systems” out of random objects.
A system of neon lights
February
He started going to the bathroom completely by himself (He just calls for a double check)!
He got really brave and started riding his bike, swinging on his swing, and climbing challenging ladders
Then he fell on his front teeth while swinging with his hands in his pocket. We thought they were going to fall out. He is much more cautious again.
March
We found out on March 11 that Owen needed his front teeth pulled. Later that day, Owen and Dexter got in a fight over some apples and Owen lost.
Owen was supposed to get his front teeth pulled at the end of March, but even Demerol and Nitrous Oxide couldn’t relax Owen enough to lay down on his back for the dentist. They have tightened back up a bit, but he will likely lose them early. We are keeping our fingers crossed they don’t get reinfected.
He started being able to draw people (stick people).
He started wearing his hair short since he hates haircuts.
April
He started riding a scooter and then decided he wasn’t going to do it anymore.
He can read most books of his age level and is starting to sound out words using other words he already knows.
May
He is really getting into pretend play and naming his animals: Black Dog is now Khaki, Caterpillar is now David, FLuffy is now Lucky, Sting Ray is now Charlotte, and shark is now Savannah. He also names himself like his animals: Hammie the Hamster, Susie the Skunk, G.A. the frog, Bingo the dog
He started being able to buckle and unbuckle himself from his carseat and loads himself now.
He loves memorizing the manufacturers and models of cars and trucks. His favorite is the GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado (although he always calls it Chevrolet, he said he doesn’t like Chevy). He also loves to name Margot’s lion walker and crawl around car different models: black Volkswagon Jetta, Red Toyota Corolla…
We’ve started working on writing letters and he is getting better each day!
Owen also has a girlfriend. Her name is Aunt Razz, and she is 5 going on 6 years old. She lives in Ohio. He talks to her on the phone all the time about when she is getting off work from Williams Sonoma. She has a brother named Uncle Bob and two sisters Kathy and Aunt Kathy. She also ran into a van playing Marco Polo (like aunt Staci) but this van was black.
Lastly, I wanted to post a comparison of Owen’s birthday interview from when he was three (I never posted it) and from three and a half.
