Dia de los Muertos

We went to the Brooks Art Museum for their Day of the Dead celebration.  They had a Mariachi band, and the people dressed up as catrinas.  The band was way too loud for Owen, so we got a few pictures and headed back outside where they were doing face painting.

We watched a few kids get their faces painted, and Owen was dead set on getting a sugar skull.  We paid our $5 and patiently waited in the long line.  Finally it was Owen’s turn… well you can guess from the pictures below how long he tolerated getting his “sugar skull”.

Since we had exhausted the things we could do at the festival, we headed next door to this awesome new kids park that just opened.  It’s all natural play areas, and Owen loved this “bear’s den” where he made lots of campfires and peeked through the holes of his “lair”.  It was a really cool tunnel that went all the way through a big hill.

After multiple campfires, swings, and a fall off the merry-go-round, we headed out for Chinese and then headed home… I guess technically we should have had Mexican Winking smile
